Therapy in Wake Forest, NC

mEGHAN’S style

Meghan specializes in trauma, grief, end-of-life care, LGBTQA, chronic illness, and religious trauma.

Meghan is a solutions focused therapist, meaning she believes that those seeking therapy are investing time, the money and energy to make a change in their lives and works along side clients to promote that change. Her approach is candid, down to earth and open. You'll likely see her walking the office barefoot and curled comfortably in her chair during sessions; the hope is that you will be able to feel as comfortable in therapy so that you can accomplish your goals.

Meghan enjoys the work of Irvin Yalom MD; a Psychiatrist and respected therapist and author of the book The Gift of Therapy: An Open Letter to a New Generation of Therapists and Their Patients. She believes that Yalom capture's the role of healer to client perfectly in his quote from the book:  “….I prefer to think of my patients and myself as fellow travelers, a term that abolishes distinctions between “them” (the afflicted) and “us” (the healers)….We are all in this together and there is no therapist and no person immune to inherent tragedies of existence.”

A diverse approach to therapy

Meghan uses all 6 of the counseling theories and approaches; Humanistic, Cognitive, Behavioral, Psychoanalytic, Constructionist and Systemic. She will meet each client's unique presentation where they are as a "fellow traveler," with the clinically appropriate combination of techniques which can range from CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, Existential, ESFT, Psychoanalytic and Mindfulness to name a few.
